Share Mavericks, are delighted to announce the next three players for the 2017 Vitality Netball Superleague Squad. Rose Morgan-Smith and Vicklyn Joseph are returning to the Mavericks family – having previously accumulated 9 years between them in the black and purple. Northern Ireland international, Michelle Drayne will be returning for her second consecutive season as a Maverick. The remaining 5 players will be announced shortly. You can read the full Mavericks press release below: Coach Kat Ratnapala had this to say: “The squad this season is a really exciting one, it’s fantastic experienced players like Rose and Vickyln have confirmed that they will be coming back into the Mavericks family and competing in this new look squad.” Kat continued: “Michelle was an instrumental part of Mavericks centre court last season and has continued to work hard to develop her game. All three players have shown the attributes we look for in a Maverick – hardworking, determination and resilience and I believe the mix of players we have selected will be an asset in the forthcoming season.” Returning Mavericks Family: Rose Morgan Smith Rose is an experienced mid courter and a longtime member of the Mavericks family having played 5 season from 2009 to 2015. Rose will be a fantastic addition to 2017 Mavericks line-up bringing explosive speed and skill to the mid court. In Rose’s Words: “I’m so excited to be back in the black and purple. I’ve got some unfinished business at Mavericks, and can’t wait to work with the fantastic new coaching team. Bring it on!” Vicklyn Joseph After a short time away, Vicklyn returns for her 5th season with Mavericks. A hugely experienced and dynamic shooter, Vicklyn will ensure her defensive opponents need to bring their A game! In Vicklyn’s Words: “It feels good to be back and I’m looking forward to returning to the Superleague courts with Hertfordshire Mavericks. With all the changes occurring this season, it makes things exciting and I’m thrilled to be a part of it all.” Michelle Drayne Michelle, a Northern Ireland international since the age of 16, made her debut for Mavericks in the 2016 season and will be returning to the centre court this year. A tenacious player, expect to see Michelle working to ensure Mavericks dominate in the mid-court. In Michelle’s Words I’m delighted to be back playing with Mavericks this season. I learnt so much last season and am looking forward to continuing to develop as a player under the guidance of Robyn, Cam and Kat. It really is shaping up to be an exciting season.
