Share Surrey Storm Netball would like to announce that Director of Netball Tania Hoffman will be leaving the club at the end of the 2018 Vitality Netball Superleague season. Tania arrived at Storm ahead of the 2017 Superleague season and was tasked with rebuilding the franchise following the departure of a number of players and coaches. Under Tania’s direction the team achieved a highly commendable 5th place after many had given them little hope, in the new look Superleague after challenging strongly for a top 4 spot. This season Tania cemented the nucleus of a strong squad and has recruited players to continue the task of building a winning team. They have faced a hard road in the first half of the season with a full schedule of away matches before returning to Surrey Sports Park last weekend to play in front of the much-needed passionate home crowd. Tania and the team are determined to play a part in the final 4 make up and have committed to finishing the season and Tania’s coaching tenure at Storm on a high note. Tania arrived in the UK on a 2 year contract which is the maximum stay allowed for a non-EU coach on the Visa sponsorship held by Surrey Storm, and therefore her contract is unable to be extended. Following the announcement, Tania said: “Unfortunately it is time for me to move on to my next challenge, This is an exciting time to be involved in netball in England and I have relished my time here at Storm. I am proud to be a part of the team that has worked passionately to make the club great again and leave knowing that we are in a stronger position than when I was appointed.” Gavin Baker, Surrey Sports Park’s Director of Sport, said: “Over the last 2 years Tania has done a fantastic job amongst very uncertain times for the netball franchise. After taking on a team decimated by the departure of 7 key players she has managed to both retain, develop and recruit players that has enabled the team to continually compete during the 2 seasons here in the UK. “Alongside her work with the Superleague team she has also developed the new Performance Pathway with 6 hub sites operating around the South East and our relationship with the Counties and Regions has been its strongest for many years. “On behalf of Surrey Sports Park I would like to express my gratitude for the hard work and commitment over these past 2 years and look forward to ending this season with more wins and potential silverware.” Surrey Storm would like to thank Tania for her 2 seasons of dedicated service to the Club. The search for a new Director of Netball will begin immediately.
