Laura Malcolm returns to Thunder

Manchester Thunder have announced the first player in their Vitality Netball Superleague Squad for the 2018-19 season.

Centre courter and former England international Laura Malcolm is rejoining from Severn Stars.

The 27-year-old left Thunder to join Severn Stars in 2017 but now she’s back at the club she played for throughout her youth and later senior career.

Laura, who spent seven years at the Black and Yellows before making the move to the Midlands, was part of Thunder’s 2014 VNSL title-winning squad.

Malcolm said: “It’s a brilliant move for me back to Thunder.

“I enjoyed my time at Severn Stars but it’s going to be exciting to get back to playing in front of Thunder fans who make the most noise.

“Working with Karen Greig again was also a big draw for me.

“She’s a top coach and a great motivator.”

Debbie Hallas, Manchester Thunder  managing director, added: “We’re really pleased to have Malcs back in the fold.

“She’s an experienced player and will be a real asset to the squad to help us kick on from the third place we achieved in last year’s Vitality Netball Superleague.”
