Share A product of Storm’s NPL squad and a member of the University of Surrey’s Team Surrey Netball Club, Emily Gulvin will return for her third Superleague season. The 22-year-old mid-courter said: “I loved last season with (Director of Netball) Mikki Austin. I really get on well with the culture that she has developed and I love being a part of that. I really enjoy her coaching style too, so it was an easy decision to return. Having been here since the age of 14 or 15, and now studying at the University, Storm and Surrey Sports Park is definitely my home!” After making impressive progress last season, Emily is optimistic that Storm can build on those foundations to enjoy even more success in 2020, both individually and as a team. “We really showed that we could contend against some of the top four teams, and our performances reflected that, but in some games we weren’t consistent enough and that’s something we’re definitely going to look at for the coming season. “I got more game time last year, and I feel like I really developed as a player. I think I took those opportunities but there are always more things to work on!” “I’m excited to have Emily back at Storm,” said Austin. “She’s been a stalwartfor years, going all the way through our NPL system and now into Superleague, and last year was a bit of a breakthrough year for her, in terms of really having a presence and being relied upon with responsibility across the court. “I think that she was one of our most improved players last season and I’m really grateful to have her back.” You can watch Emily Gulvin in action for Surrey Storm at the Season Opener 2020 – buy tickets now!
