Celtic Dragons’ Fast5 All-Stars squad revealed

Celtic Dragons have revealed their squad for the franchise’s first-ever appearance at the British Fast5 Netball All-Stars Championship to take place in London on Saturday 12th October 2019.

The team which will be fighting it out on court for the £25,000 prize is as follows: Abby Tyrrell, Paige Kindred, Sophie Morgan, Leila Thomas, Amy Clinton, Kyra Jones, Dee Bolakoro, Lucy Herdman, Rebekah Robinson and Latanya Wilson.

Tyrrell, Kindred, Morgan, Thomas, Clinton and Bolakoro were this week revealed as members of Celtic Dragons’ 2020 Vitality Netball Superleague squad.

Returning to the franchise for a final cameo appearance will be Kyra Jones, who signed-off from Vitality Netball Superleague duty in Celtic Dragons’ end of season win against Surrey Storm. Jones has enjoyed a range of sporting successes since, not only playing a role in Wales’ four summer victories but also participating in a charity boxing tournament.

Another 2019 Dragon who will be featuring at Fast5 is Lucy Herdman. Herdman broke through into the Vitality Netball Superleague last season and was part of the England Nets team at the Indoor Netball World Championships in South Africa back in the summer. This experience makes her a formidable player in the Fast5 format of the game, where more points are scored the further out you shoot from.

Celtic Dragons are also pleased to welcome Rebekah Robinson and Latanya Wilson from Jamaica.

Robinson made her World Cup debut in the summer, adding to her first Commonwealth Games back in 2018. She is an exciting young goal-attack from Kingston and will be looking to apply some trademark ‘Sunshine Girls’ flair when she appears for the Dragons at the Copper Box in October.

Fellow Jamaican Wilson is a young, robust defender standing at 6’1”. She helped guide Jamaica’s youth side to 5th place at the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup and then progressed to feature in the senior side’s 2018 series against Trinidad & Tobago and the Vitality Roses. She promises to be another ‘one to watch’ when the Dragons go live on Sky Sports for the autumn showpiece.

Tickets for the British Fast5 All-Star Championship have almost sold. You will need to hurry to ensure you have your ticket. You can book here.
