Share Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) side Saracens Mavericks have revealed that Georgia Lees will be part of their 15-player squad for the 2021 season. With the 2021 campaign set to start in February of next year, Mavericks have enjoyed a busy signing window which has seen them announce 12 players ahead of the 30 October deadline. The upcoming season will be Lees’ third in a black and red dress after she joined from Surrey Storm ahead of the 2019 campaign. The wing attack / centre rose up through Storm’s ranks and won two VNSL titles with the side. After her move to Hertfordshire, she quickly become a regular in the starting VII and she subsequently featured in all three of Mavericks’ matches last term. Lees is known for being studious on and off the court. Mixing high academic studies with full-time training, she is as talented as she is hard-working. She shows a tenacious desire to get her hands on the ball in the mid-court and when she does have possession, it is rarely wasted. Patience, calmness, and skill allow her to seamlessly connect with the Mavericks attack and find shooters with ease. Georgia has her eyes firmly fixed on another strong campaign, she said: “I cannot wait to be back in the red and black for the 2021 season. After finishing last season early it’s going to feel even better to get back on court with the girls and challenge for a top four spot this year.” Lees’ re-signing follows the earlier announcements that captain Sasha Corbin, long-serving Steph Collard and Roses Future Beth Ecuyer-Dale, and Chloe Essam would both be returning. Earlier this week, news broke that ‘rookies’ Bella Baylis and Britney Clarke would be making the step up to the VNSL with Aliyah Zaranyika also recommitting after making her debut at the Season Opener in 2020. Last week, Mavericks made it known that a handful of Vitality Roses in Kadeen Corbin, Jodie Gibson, Razia Quashie and Gabby Marshall would also be staying in Hertfordshire next term.
