Share Leeds Rhinos Netball have announced Paige Kindred, 25, will join the new Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) club for the 2021 season. The Manchester-based player joins Rhinos from former side Celtic Dragons on a one-year deal. Kindred can cover all three defensive positions and previously worked with Rhinos High Performance Director and Head Coach Dan Ryan, during her time with 2019 Superleague champions Manchester Thunder. She has also played for Superleague franchise Team Northumbria and represented Premier League 1 side Tameside. Commenting on her move to Leeds Rhinos Netball, she said: “It’s amazing to be joining the Rhinos and being selected for their first ever Superleague squad. The training environment has been amazing so far. It’s been lovely to get to know everyone and be part of the vision to push forward for the Superleague. “The programme here was something that attracted me to join the Rhinos. I am training here five times as week, which for me I know will work really well and I have to commit fully to the programme. “I’ve worked with Dan Ryan before and I really like his style and the way he talked about the vision for the club was something that I was really excited about. To represent the north as well and help broaden the teams across the country.” Kindred is another emerging talent that Ryan targeted in his recruitment strategy and believes she will be a strong addition to the team’s defensive unit. He said: “I’ve worked with Paige before and have seen glimpses of what she’s capable of, but I think she’s certainly ready to break through now and establish herself at this level. “She’s such a workhorse in training and games, really hardnosed in her approach and I just love the tenacity and intensity she brings to the court. “She’s an uncompromising defender, very annoying and uncomfortable to play against which makes her a really valuable addition to our squad.” Kindred is the tenth signing for Leeds Rhinos Netball, joining Jade Clarke, Vicki Oyesola, Brie Grierson, Rosie Harris, Britt Coleman, Rhea Dixon, Sienna Rushton, Amelia Hall and Fi Toner as the players announced so far for the club’s squad for 2021.
