Share Strathclyde Sirens have confirmed that Emma Love has been ruled out of the 2021 season due to injury. The mid-courter sustained an ACL injury in pre-season training this year in the lead up to Rounds 1/2. Love was selected in Sirens’ Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) squad of 15 for the first time during the 2021 signing window. She had previously been a part of the club’s inaugural U21 squad last season and has gained a wealth of experience on an international level with Scotland Love has already earned her first senior cap – which came against Gibraltar in 2019 – and has represented the U17 Scottish Thistles at Netball Europe 2016, the Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana 2017, and Netball Europe. Technical Director Karen Atkinson said: “We are truly devastated for Emma. She is a talented young Scottish player who was developing well and relishing the opportunity to be in our VNSL squad. “For this to happen in her first year as a contracted Siren is extremely upsetting but we know she will be back even stronger than before. “She will have so much support during her rehab from Sirens, Netball Scotland and the Scottish Institute of Sport and we look forward to having her back on court in the not too distant future.” Lynsey Gallagher, meanwhile, sustained a knee injury in the game against Celtic Dragons in Round 3. She has heavily impressed during Sirens’ start to the season and is being reviewed by the medical team in Scotland. Fellow Strathclyde Sirens squad members Niamh McCall and Caitlin Pringle are currently rehabbing following recent injuries. We would like to wish all players the best for a speedy recovery.
