26 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) athletes have been selected for the England U21 squad for 2021 by newly-appointed Head Coach Victoria Burgess and Assistant Coach Colette Thomson.

Seven Superleague teams have been represented in the U21 squad while all nine English VNSL teams have at least one representative in the England U19 squad.

A handful of those selected notably featured in the recent 2021 season. Young Player of the Season Funmi Fadoju makes the squad as does the likes of title-winner Suzie Liverseidge and Sienna Rushton who started as goal shooter at Finals Weekend.

Head CoachBurgess is Head of Loughborough Lightning’s Performance Pathway Programme and was Assistant Coach to Sara Bayman as Lightning recently won their first-ever VNSL title.

Burgess said: “The athletes have all put in a lot of hard work to be selected into the programme and have shown outstanding commitment and resilience to adapt to the different environments in this time.

“We saw some standout performances from players in this age group in the 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague season, displaying leadership and a maturity beyond their years.

“I can’t wait to work with such a talented group of athletes, as well as their club coaches, and use my knowledge and experience to support their development.”
