Strathclyde Sirens have announced the return of one of the franchise’ founding players, Bethan Goodwin, for the 2022 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) season.

Fan-favourite Goodwin heads into her sixth season with Sirens having joined at only 17 years of age. She proved an important part of Sirens’ impressive season in 2021 and scored more than 100 goals.

The 22-year-old, a University of Strathclyde alumnus who recently graduated with 1st class honours in Accounting and Finance, will now look to continue her development with Sirens next season.

Goodwin brings a wealth of experience to the young side having also represented the Scottish Thistles at the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup, 2018 Commonwealth Games and, the 2019 Netball World Cup. She has also been named in Thistles Head Coach Tamsin Greenway’s squad currently preparing for Commonwealth Games 2022.

Bethan is looking forward to pushing towards an even better finish in 2022. She said: “I am really excited to re-sign with the Strathclyde Sirens for season 2022. I’m looking forward to pushing for a top four position in the league and building on last season’s performances.”

Strathclyde Sirens Head Coach, Lesley MacDonald, said: “I’m delighted to have Bethan back this season. She really had to step up last season and brought a new dimension to her game showing the variety she can bring to the attacking end.

“She is an awesome individual therefore I am looking forward to seeing her continue this development into the new season.”

Goodwin becomes Strathclyde Sirens’ fifth signing of the 2022 Signing Window after Towera Vinkhumbo, Emma Barrie, Taylor McKevitt and Gia Abernethy. You can see the Sirens squad as it develops here.
