Strathclyde Sirens have announced that Abigail Tyrrell will join the team from Celtic Dragons for the 2022 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) season. Tyrrell completes the Sirens defensive set up having joined Towera Vinkhumbo, Emily Nicholl and Taylor McKevitt who have all been announced during the Signing Window. Tyrrell enjoyed lots of court time during the most recent season with Dragons and was a star player for the Welsh side in her time there. She is looking forward to moving to Glasgow and seeing how Sirens can progress following their best-ever finish in 2021. “I am super excited to be a part of Sirens for the 2021-2022 season and really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve this season,” said the defender, who started her career with Manchester Thunder and has represented her country at youth level. She grew from strength-to-strength in Cardiff and was duly voted their Most Improved Player in 2019 and played a large role in Dragons’ Fast5 All-Stars run to the semi-finals. You can still buy tickets to this year’s event. Head Coach, Lesley MacDonald, said: “I am delighted that Abby has signed for the Sirens for the new season. She has always made it tough for our shooters when we have played against her therefore, she will undoubtedly bring additional strength and versatility to the defensive unit. “I am looking forward to working with Abby and continue her development within the defensive circle.” Tyrrell becomes Strathclyde Sirens’ ninth signing of the 2022 Signing Window after Towera Vinkhumbo, Emma Barrie, Taylor McKevitt, Gia Abernethy, Bethan Goodwin, Emily Nicholl, Niamh McCall, Claire Maxwell and Beth Dix.
