Leah, now returning for her third year, was an instant hit back in her first season in 2020. Last season, Middleton started in 16 games and matched up with some of the leagues best attackers across the VNSL. The 26-year-old will once again be linking up with Alima Priest and Niamh Cooper in the Storm defence as a force not to be reckoned with. Delighted to return, Leah said: “I feel so excited to be joining storm for my third season, to have the opportunity to play at this level is always something I’m extremely grateful for. “Storm has definitely grown into a place that feels like my home away from home and I feel very lucky to be a part of the group.” With the recent signing announcement of Peace Proscovia, Middleton is excited for what this will do for the work that happens behind the scenes. “The addition of Peace is amazing and as a defender, to have the opportunity to test ourselves week in, week out against her is such an exciting asset to our training environment. Mikki has made some key signings for us that will hugely benefit the team moving forward. “My goals this season is to continue to learn as a playing squad and as an individual. Defensively I am so excited to continue building on partnerships as the bulk of that end is returning from last year – as a unit, the opportunity to work together for another season is a really exciting prospect and I’m super excited to see what we can achieve.” Confident on Mikki Austin’s signings, Leah commented “I think with the group that Mikki has secured, we have the foundations to achieve some great things.” Middleton becomes Surrey Storm’s ninth signing of the 2022 Signing Window after Mikki Austin, Yasmin Parsons, Niamh Cooper, Frankie Wells, Emma Magee, Ellie Kelk, Peace Proscovia and Alima Priest.
