Share Jameela McCarthy of Saracens Mavericks during the match between Wasps Netball and Saracens Mavericks at Resorts World, Birmingham, England on 5th February 2022 Saracens Mavericks can today confirm that Jameela McCarthy has been unable to finish this season with the club due to medical grounds. Trinidad & Tobago international McCarthy joined the Hertfordshire outing in the 2022 Signing Window and has featured three times for Mavericks this season. McCarthy, a defender by trade, won six turnovers for Mavericks in a successful start for the two-time champions but the 26-year-old will play no further part in their campaign. In a statement released on Friday 25 February, Mavericks stated: “Jameela was a highly valued member of the squad and we of course wish her all the best in the future.” Head Coach Kat Ratnapala said: “People will always come first at our club and we would ask that everyone respects Jameela’s decision. She will be sorely missed in this 2022 campaign and we wish her a very speedy recovery.” Mavericks next face fellow unbeaten side Manchester Thunder at Hertfordshire Sports Village on Saturday 26 February.
