Allison of Jamaica and Wasps.

Wasps’ Gezelle Allison has been listed as a reserve in Jamaica’s 2022 Commonwealth Games squad, the nation’s governing body revealed in June.

The goal attack will be part of the 15 Sunshine Girls to travel to Birmingham next month in a bid to claim a medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Allison is joined by former Celtic Dragons duo Rebekah Robinson and Latanya Wilson, 2018 VNSL Player of the Season Shamera Sterling, old London Pulse fan-favourite Adean Thomas, and ex-Severn Stars defender Jodi-Ann Ward in the squad.

Allison joined the Vitality Netball Superleague with Wasps for the 2021 season with her flair in the shooting circle making her an exciting prospect whenever on court. The 26-year-old also featured in the VNSL All-Stars side that took on the Vitality Roses at the Vitality Netball Legends Series in January 2021.

The Wasps star has scored 328 league goals since her arrival including 229 last term with a shot accuracy of more than 80 per cent. She also netted one of 2021’s most memorable goals against London Pulse.

For Jamaica, Allison already has several caps for the Sunshine Girls. Recently, the shooter featured for her country in the Vitality Roses Reunited Series against England in November 2021.

The full squad is as follows: Shanice Beckford, Kadie-Ann Dehaney, Jhaniele Fowler, Shadiann Hemmings, Shimona Nelson, Rebekah Robinson, Nicole Dixon Rochester, Shamera Sterling, Adean Thomas, Jodie-Ann Ward, Khadijah Williams, Latanya Wilson. Reserves: Gezelle Allison, Mischa Creary, Abbeygail Linton.

Allison joins a number of 2022 VNSL stars who have already secured their place at the upcoming Commonwealth Games which will begin on 29 July.

The squads of England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, South Africa and now Jamaica will have Superleague stars feature in Birmingham with some nations still yet to announce. You can keep up to date with all VNSL-related Commonwealth Games news HERE throughout the tournament.
