Share After two consistent seasons in the Manchester Thunder shooting circle, Lois Pearson has been rewarded with another Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) contract by the current league champions. Pearson will once again appear in the yellow dress for the 2023 campaign when her childhood club will aim to retain their Superleague title for the first time in their history. The 22-year-old becomes Thunder’s second attacking signing of the 2023 Signing Window following the highly-anticipated announcement of Lenize Potgieter from Australian SSN side Adelaide Thunderbirds. Pearson has been on the books of Thunder for the last decade and has played at every age group for the Manchester outfit since she arrived in 2012. The youngster was rewarded with her first full season in 2021, making 21 appearances and scoring 26 goals from goal attack as Karen Greig’s side finished third. Her promise was enough to be rewarded with another VNSL contract and her performances during the 2022 season meant she played every game during an undefeated season for Thunder which ended in them winning the title. Pearson, who netted 33 goals, has since been named in the Future Roses programme and has now been named in Thunder’s squad for the 2023 campaign. “I loved playing for Thunder last season, and lifting the trophy at the end of the season was amazing. I can’t wait to be back for 2023, and I’m looking forward to being back at training, welcoming some new team members and defending our title,” she said. Karen Greig, Head Coach and Director of Netball for Manchester Thunder, said: “What an exceptional season Lois had last year. She really thrived with the experience around her and cemented her role in the squad at both wing attack and goal attack. She is an exciting young athlete with still so much more to learn and is a real sponge with a great attitude. I am excited to see how much more we can pull from her this season.” Pearson becomes Manchester Thunder’s third signing of the 2023 Signing Window following Taylor McKevitt and Lenize Potgieter.
