Share Manchester Thunder have called up Josie Huckle as a replacement for Yasmin Roebuck, who will miss the 2023 Netball Super League season with injury. Roebuck picked up an ACL injury in pre-season and former Wasps captain Huckle has been added to the squad in her place. Huckle had originally joined the reigning champions as a Wasps Additional Training Partner following the Coventry side’s departure from the league. We are pleased to announce that @josiehuckle will be taking the 12th spot in the team 🙌 This is following @YasminRoebuck‘s injury, ruling her out for the rest of the @NetballSL season.😔 pic.twitter.com/08BpYS4mDb — Manchester Thunder (@thundernetball) January 13, 2023 The 31-year-old will now be part of the 12-member squad that includes another former Wasp in the form of Iona Christian. Roebuck was a regular on the bench for the Manchester Thunder last season as they went undefeated on the way to the title. The 20-year-old mid-courter had been selected for a second season but has said she will be the side’s No.1 fan as she begins her rehabilitation from injury. Devastated to be missing out this season💔It’s not the 2023 I was expecting but I’m ready for all the challenges to get back on court stronger. Overwhelmed by all the love and support, thank you everyone. Time to be @thundernetball No1 fan ⚡️🫶🏼 https://t.co/udIavGK1yj — Yasmin Roebuck (@YasminRoebuck) January 13, 2023 Huckle will provide Manchester Thunder with plenty of experience of winning back-to-back NSL titles, securing two trophies with Surrey Storm in 2015 and 2016. Upon joining Wasps, the defender won the next two Netball Super League titles in 2017 and 2018 and will look to help Thunder to win a fourth title when the season begins on 11 February in Nottingham.
