Taylor McKevitt Re-Signs for Manchester Thunder

With the Netball Super League signing window officially opening on Monday 7th August, Manchester Thunder announced an update to their coaching staff, with Head Coach Karen Greig also taking on the role of Franchise Director, and ex-Thunder player and England Roses international Laura Malcolm returning as Technical Support Coach and Head of Pathways for 2024.

With very talented coaching staff now in place, it is with great pleasure that Manchester Thunder can announced their first player signing of the 2024 window as the dynamic wing defence and centre, Taylor McKevitt.

McKevitt signed for Manchester Thunder at the start of the 2023 season, joining Thunder from Scottish side Strathclyde Sirens where she played for 3 seasons. Previous to this, McKevitt came through the ranks as a junior in the Manchester Thunder pathway, where she won five Northern Premier League titles and was promoted to a training partner for the Super League squad, before moving to London Pulse.

Following her amazing performance last season at Manchester Thunder, McKevitt shined as a player making 17 appearances in the Netball Super League, help to bring energy and strength to the team.

McKevitt said, “I’m really excited for the 2024 season. I know with me being the first player to be announced that the fans don’t know who we’ve got signed, but we’ve got a really exciting squad this year and I can’t wait for everybody to finally find out what we’ve been working on.”

“The Thunder fans have been amazing. I always knew that the Thunder fans are so loud, they’re so loyal and it’s always so great to play in the Thunderdome in front of everybody.”

“One of my highlights last season was the game we had at the AO Arena. I thought it was so amazing and it’s really great to showcase what netball can be like in Manchester. It was the highest attendance that Thunder has ever had, and all the Thunder fans really showed up for it, and hopefully one day in the future we can have more netball played in arenas like that more regularly.”

“As well as being a part of the Thunder squad on court, I will also be working for Thunder off the court again this year, helping to run their community programme with camps and masterclasses, and also running programmes within local schools and netball clubs. I’ll also be helping on some of their social media side, and you’ll be able to catch me making videos on their TikTok account.”

Head Coach and Franchise Director of Manchester Thunder, Karen Greig, says: “I am delighted to re-sign Taylor for the ‘24 season, and in her first season back with us she certainly made an impact on and off the court. Her liveliness on court and hunger to win ball was evident and she really started to build connections over the season. Her ability to hassle and win ball in defence paired with her speed of transition into attack make her a valuable asset to our squad. I’m looking forward to working with Taylor once again and seeing her ideas off-court new TikTok ideas.”
