Share 13.01.24 - Welsh Feathers v Uganda, International Netball Series, Test Match Three - Over the last few days, the Welsh Feathers and the Uganda She Cranes went head to head in an exciting three day test series, which was streamed live on BBCiPlayer. Fans were able to watch these exciting matches on the TV as well as in person, as the series sold an impressive number of tickets. In the first test, the Welsh Feathers had a flying start. With Netball Super League (NSL) athletes covering every inch of the court for this side, fans knew they would be putting on an impressive performance. Captains Nia Jones and Bethan Dyke were dominating in the midcourt, while shooters Phillipa Yarranton and Georgia Rowe were showing their talent in the shooting circle. New Cardiff Dragons signing Leah Middleton earned her first cap for the Welsh side, helping her team to victory in the first game of the season. The game ended 57 – 45, a huge win for the Welsh Feathers. Loughborough Lightning’s Mary Cholhok was a strong target in the She Cranes’ shooting circle. Up against Middleton and Severn Stars defender Ella Powell-Davies, Cholhok knew she had a tough game on her hands. However, that didn’t stop her from doing what she does best, whilst giving the fans what they wanted by throwing a few ‘Cholhok lay ups’ into her game. The second test ended 40 – 64 to the visitors. The series now being 1 – 1, it was all to play for in the final game. Cardiff Dragons training partner, Shona O’Dwyer was in the centre position, running the play with captain Jones by her side. Powell-Davies and Middleton still had a tough game on their hands with Cholhok’s impressive shooting just getting better and better. Rowe also had an impressive final game, earning herself player of the match. The final whistle blew and the She Cranes took the victory, 48 – 59. Mary Cholhok was given the title of Player of the Series.
