After four years in the Netball Super League, Lily-May Catling has announced her retirement. Signing for Wasps in 2021 before transferring to Team Bath, Catling has had an impressive netball career, making 49 appearances in total. Announcing her retirement on X, Catling said: “Some might say I haven’t had the career that denotes a retirement post, but I am so proud of my four years and 49 caps in the Super League. There are simply not enough words to thank the army of people it took to get me where I am. “But I hope throughout my career I’ve shown you how important you are to me.” 💕 pic.twitter.com/JjjjgmkfWy — Lily-May Catling (@lilymaycatling) July 3, 2024 Captaining Team Bath in 2023, she reflects on how she had dreamed of this happening: “If I could tell my 12-year-old self I was Team Bath captain, she would have never believed it.” The defender made 23 appearances for Team Bath across the years, matched with amazing stats. In 2023, she picked up an impressive 13 interceptions across her 18 appearances that year.
