The Vitality Rose will be supported by vice-captains Taylor McKevitt and Josie Huckle. Announcing the news, Head Coach Karen Greig said: “I’m delighted that we are able to share our new leadership group. “In choosing a captain, it’s important that the squad and coaches have a great trust and working relationship, and having worked with Amy for over 10 years, I know she has all the attributes to be a fantastic Thunder captain. I am looking forward to seeing her grab this opportunity and put her own stamp on the role. “Nat [Metcalf] has done a fantastic job in that role for the past few years and has really driven our great culture. She is still in and around our group and will be supporting Amy in her new role. “Taylor and Josie will play key roles as vice-captains, and with their personal strengths between them, they will be a huge support for both Amy and the squad.” Sending a message to the fans as part of the announcement, Carter said: “Hello Thunder fans! I’m truly honoured to be captaining the team alongside Josie and Taylor. “We have developed a strong culture over the years and I’m excited to build on this. It’s lovely to have a team of true friendships and relationships with coaches focussed on how we can be better. I think we all bring something different to the team and this helps us grow. Josie has a great voice in the group and is really motivating and Taylor really brings the team together and maintains standards. After going through the Thunder pathway and years playing for the Super League team, I feel ready to take on this role and make it my own. Let’s see what the 2025 season brings! On her new role, McKevitt commented: “Being a part of the Manchester squad is such an honour in itself, but being named vice-captain especially is super special! “Amy, Josie and myself are all new to the Thunder leadership space and I think we all bring something a bit different to the group and compliment each other really well. “It’s exciting being able to build upon the strong Manchester Thunder culture that’s already been established over many years!” Fellow vice-captain Huckle added: “I’m really excited to be asked to be vice-captain and part of the leadership team for Thunder as we step into the relaunched NSL. “I hope to bring the passion and enthusiasm I have on court to this role and look forward to helping lead this exciting group in 2025.” The Netball Super League will relaunch in 2025, bigger and better than ever before, and with it, an exciting new one-day competition: the Netball Super Cup.
