London Mavericks are excited to announce Ellie Rattu as captain for the upcoming season, marking an exciting new chapter for the team as they prepare for their inaugural season in the Netball Super League (NSL).

A midcourt sensation and a familiar name in Jess Thirlby’s England squad, Ellie brings both experience and vision to her new role. Since her NSL debut with London Pulse, she has made 42 league appearances and quickly established herself as a standout player. Joining Mavericks in 2024, Ellie made an immediate impact, and now she’s ready to lead the team into this pivotal season.
London Mavericks Director of Netball, Tamsin Greenway, shared her confidence in Ellie’s leadership: “Ellie is a born leader and winner. I’ve known her since she was 18 years old and she was a natural choice to take this group forward. She is calm under pressure, kind and understanding, but also has a level of determination that is contagious on the court. Always willing to give more and constantly adding value she is prepared to do things differently and sums up what it is to be a maverick.”
Ellie also expressed her excitement about the role: “I feel very honoured to be named captain this season. I’m looking forward to the new challenges this role will bring and I feel so lucky to be amongst such an incredible group of women who support one another. We’re excited to see what this season has in store for us as a collective.”
Off the court, Ellie Rattu is making an impact in her East London community. Every week, she volunteers to help provide for some of the most vulnerable people with hot meals, hygiene packs, groceries, and even haircuts, showcasing Ellie’s natural ability to look out for others and lead with heart. It’s a reflection of the same determination and care she will bring to her role as London Mavericks captain.
Ellie will be joined by Vicki Oyesola and Emma Thacker will stand alongside captain Ellie Rattu to lead London Mavericks as vice-captains this season!
