Netball Super League | LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons Name 2025 Leadership Group.

LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons Head Coach Reinga Bloxham is thrilled to have named her side’s leadership group for the 2025 Netball Super League season.

Jacqui Newton has been named captain in what will be her second season for the club. She played 18 times for Dragons last season after moving to the Netball Super League from Australia, where she played for Collingwood Magpies, Melbourne Vixens and Victoria Fury.

On being named captain she said: “I’m truly honoured to be named captain of this group. I’m already excited about building something special together, and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish in NSL 2025. I’m very thankful for the warm welcome from the Dragons’ team last year, and I hope that together we can achieve great success both on and off the court.”

Joining her in Dragons’ leadership group as co-vice-captain are Leah Middleton and Elle McDonald. Like Newton, McDonald started her career in Australia before moving to the Super League with Leeds Rhinos in 2023, she then joined Dragons in 2024. Middleton is an NSL regular, playing over 70 games so far for Dragons and Surrey Storm.

On naming the group, Bloxham said: “I feel we have a wonderful balance of knowledge and experience within our leadership group. Their diverse personalities will complement each other, allowing each of them to lead in their unique ways, which will help foster our team and culture.”

Dragons start their season at the House of Sport as they host London Mavericks on Friday 14 March, just six days after they take to the court at the Netball Super Cup in Sheffield. Tickets are currently on sale for the Netball Super Cup, where you can watch all eight NSL 2025 teams in action.
