Netball Super League | Keenan positive ahead of Storm clash

Tonight’s Monday Night Netball action on Sky Sports will be between Team Northumbria and Surrey Storm.

Despite losing against Manchester Thunder on Saturday, Northumbria remain positive that they can cause an upset.

Team Northumbria’s Tuaine Keenan remains positive ahead of Monday night’s Netball Superleague clash against Surrey Storm despite losing 65-51 to Manchester Thunder on Saturday.

TN put up a good fight at Sport Central against one of the NSL favourites but they struggled to continue their momentum in the final period.

Keenan was superb at Goal Keeper for TN but believes consistency is the key if they are to win Monday’s encounter in front of the Sky Sports cameras.

“I think we could have done better,” admitted the Kiwi. “But at times we got really close to them.

“It was just a matter of being clinical when getting the ball to our shooters and making sure we reduce the gap so we stood a better chance in the fourth.

“We definitely showed a lot of fight considering we were down quite a bit in the first quarter and came back from that.

“We just weren’t consistent enough but the score was a lot better than the last time we played them which is a good sign.

“We’ll rest up and reflect on what happened with Thunder and hopefully avoid the same errors and be a lot more clinical on Monday.”

The home-side made a lot of tactical changes from quarter to quarter on Saturday in an attempt to hold Thunder at bay that almost paid off.

TN’s new-look team seems to be working reasonably well as round nine of the NSL approaches, with Keenan confident in her squad’s abilities.

“I believe we have a squad where we can put anyone on at anytime just to inject some fresh legs if we need to,” she added.

“Everyone has their own different strengths and weaknesses it’s just about seeing which combination we can play to best combat what our opponents put on court.

“I think all of our changes against Thunder were effective it was just that we needed to be a lot better working together as a team.”

TN welcome Surrey Storm to Sport Central on Monday (7.45pm centre pass) in a bid to obtain their third win of the season live on Sky Sports.
