Netball Super League | Emily Nicholl commits to fifth year at Sirens

Strathclyde Sirens have announced the return of Emily Nicholl for the upcoming Vitality Netball Superleague season.

Nicholl has been with Sirens since its inception in 2017 and is therefore returning for her fifth consecutive season with the Glasgow outfit.

Competing with the likes of Zanele Vimbela and Natalie Bright, the 26-year-old made her two VNSL appearances of 2020 off the bench and contributed two deflections in total.

In addition to her Sirens exploits, Nicholl has also played an integral role within the Scottish Thistles squad.

The defender has represented her country at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup in Liverpool. Furthermore, she has also competed in the Thistles’ Celtic Clash and Netball Europe.

Emily Nicholl, a recently-qualified solicitor, said: “I can’t believe I am in my fifth year with the club and I still feel so young in my netball journey, but especially after last season I am so excited to get back together and out on court playing and building on last season with the team.

“I’m looking forward to lots of ‘high-fives’ when we’re allowed! We’ve got a great group of girls all doing what we love together so I’m really looking forward picking up where we left off from last season.”

In a busy week for Sirens, Nicholl is their fifth signing of the 2021 window. The Scottish side have also announced the return of captain Gia Abernethy, Claire Maxwell, Niamh McCall and Taylor Cullen respectively.
