Leeds Rhinos Netball have announced the double signing of emerging talents Britt Coleman, 22, and Rhea Dixon, 22, for the 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague season.

Coleman, who plays goal attack and goal shooter, joins from Celtic Dragons. The Burton-On-Trent born player previously played for Loughborough Lightning for four seasons and was a mainstay within the England age group set up, playing at U17, U19 and U21 level.

Commenting on joining the Rhinos, Coleman said: “I’m so pleased to be joining the Rhinos and am excited to be part of this new team.

“I want to be part of a team where we all work together towards the same goal and play and work as a family and, after speaking with Dan Ryan, I knew I wanted to join the Rhinos.

“I know a few of the girls in the team so it will be good to play alongside Vicki Oyesola and Rhea Dixon again and am looking forward to next season.”

Dan Ryan, High Performance Director and Superleague Head Coach at Leeds Rhinos Netball, said: “Britt is a shooting machine with the confidence to turn and shoot from anywhere in the circle. She has this steely resolve about her, it’s a brilliant quality to have as a shooter.

“She has so much athletic potential that probably she doesn’t even realise just yet, but she’s got so many great attributes and strengths that if we can really foster and develop them we will see some huge improvements in her overall game.

“She’s been playing Superleague for a number of years now, she knows what it’s all about and she’s shown that she can be a real game changer out there.

“I’ve recruited Britt because I think there is so much more in her and she believes that too. She has what it takes to become a dominant performer and cause a lot of trouble for opposition defence lines.”

Dixon, who can also play goal attack and goal shooter, joins from Surrey Storm, where she came through their NPL programme before making her Superleague debut in 2017. She has also represented England at U17, U19 and U21 level.

“I am really excited to be part of Leeds Rhinos, the history and the set up we have here is really cool so I am proud to be in the team. I wanted to join a club that would push me and who would have a really high performance environment and structure and I think I have found that.

“We have already got such a variety of different players that bring different things to the club and with the girls that are joining that haven’t arrived yet it will be an even more diverse and exciting group.”

Commenting on Dixon’s signing, Dan Ryan said: “Rhea is a player I’ve watched closely over the years and I’ve always thought she could be absolutely anything. She’s a pure goal attack with great skills and loads of natural talent, but there’s so much growth potential in her which is exactly why she is here.

“She has so much to offer and I think our full time programme is going to have a huge impact on her and I’ve already seen some significant improvements in how she attacks her training and how sharp her focus is.

“I know Rhea’s going to really embrace this opportunity and show everyone what she’s truly capable of. I genuinely believe she could be anything.”
