Share Vitality Rose Gabby Marshall will be back in the black and red dress of Saracens Mavericks after her extension was announced by the club. The 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) campaign will be Marshall’s fourth season after joining the Hertfordshire outfit for 2018. Marshall arrived at Hertfordshire Sports Village in 2017 having previously represented Manchester Thunder. After a hugely-impressive debut season down south, the mid-courter became a regular starter under Head Coach Kat Ratanapala before injury sadly ruled her out for half of the 2019 VNSL campaign. Her recommended period of rest was well worth it when she started all three of Mavericks’ games at wing defence in the short-lived 2020 campaign, when Mavs won two and lost one of their fixtures. Still only 24, Marshall ‘is an incredibly hard working, resilient and skilful athlete she does not stop working in the midcourt and links our two ends really well’ according to Ratnapala. On an international front, Marshall already has six senior international caps for the Vitality Roses having made her debut at Netball Europe in 2017 when she played all four games in Cardiff. Her graduation to the senior side came after an impressive spell at youth level. First representing England at U17 level, she quickly progressed to the U19s and promptly to the U21s. She captained the team to an unbeaten Netball Europe campaign in 2016 before earning a sport in the 2017 Netball World Youth Cup, where she won bronze in Botswana. Marshall is now in Christchurch, New Zealand, ahead of the Cadbury Test Series against the world champions. This news comes after the announcements that fellow England internationals Kadeen Corbin and Jodie Gibson will also be playing for Mavericks in 2021.
