Share Goal shooter and pathway product Britney Clarke has sealed her place in the Saracens Mavericks squad for the upcoming 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) season. This is the first time that the youngster has made the senior squad for a competitive league campaign but she had trained with the first-team last term. Clarke, who is a final year student at the University of Hertfordshire where the club is based, is a talented goal shooter and will in some part fill the void left by the departing George Fisher. The NPL graduate has forged a reputation at youth level as a handful for defenders due to her fantastic ability to keep control of the ball in the circle with strong, safe hands. Combined with good accuracy from all over the circle, her development should kick on for the new campaign. 🔊 SOUND ON | #ThisOnesOurs She is our @MavericksNpl U21 & @UHNetball Goal Shooter 🗑️ now signing for @NetballSL #VNSL2021 6⃣ @britneyclarke99 #⃣❓ 🎵 credit | @playdeadbanduk #BeAMaverick❤️🖤 #TogetherSaracens⚫️🔴 pic.twitter.com/WpLJFDe3ZK — Saracens Mavericks (@SaracensMavs) October 20, 2020 Clarke will now likely make her VNSL debut for Mavericks when the 2021 season kick-starts in February. “I’m really excited to be part of the Mavericks family again,” she said, looking forward to the new season. “From the moment I joined the NPL last year, I have been made to feel like family and then having the opportunity to train alongside the senior team last season was amazing and I learnt so much in just one season. “I’m incredibly happy to be part of this amazing group of players and coaches and can’t wait to get started.” The news comes after an announcement earlier in the day that fellow ‘rookie’ Bella Baylis would also be making the step up to the VNSL next term. Last week, Mavericks made it known that a handful of Vitality Roses would also be staying in Hertfordshire next term. These included Kadeen Corbin Jodie Gibson, Razia Quashie and Gabby Marshall.
