Share Vitality Netball SuperLeague Opener 2020 Surrey Storm are delighted to announce Australian goal shooter Karyn Bailey has resigned for the 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) campaign, subject to Visa clearance. With a reputation as one of the top shooters in the VNSL, Bailey brings a wealth of experience and quality to the Storm squad. The 34-year-old returns for a second season in duck egg blue after her maiden year in Mikki Austin’s side was cut short due to Coronavirus in 2020. Beginning her career with Suncorp Super Netball (SSN) side Queensland Firebirds in her native Australia, Bailey went on to feature for both Victorian Fury and recent SSN winners Melbourne Vixens. The veteran shooter moved to London in 2018 and subsequently moved to Hertfordshire side Saracens Mavericks for the upcoming VNSL season. After a stellar debut season, she was one of 10 nominees for Player of the Year. With many accolades to her name, including an Australian Netball League Player of the Year Award, an ANZ Championship title and the 2015 Melbourne Vixens MVP award, Bailey will be looking to add to her trophy haul at Surrey Sports Park. She said: “It’s an honour to be back playing for Surrey Storm for the 2021 season. We have continued to build a formidable team and cement connections during this difficult time and I cannot wait to step back out on court wearing the duck egg blue dress. “A huge thank you to our supporters for the continued support during this break, the times have been difficult and challenging but rest assured we continue to push for success for you all. Bring on 2021!” Mikki Austin added: “We are thrilled to have a shooter of Karyn’s calibre re-signed in 2021. Karyn Bailey who has been a stalwart of the league for numerous years joined Storm in 2019 and brings so much leadership into our attacking end. “Her playing experience both in the UK and previously in Australia speaks volumes to the type of player Karyn is and we cannot wait to continue working with her this season.” You can keep up to date with all the latest signing window news on our dedicated Transfers page or with our Twitter Moment.
