Dani McFarlane of Saracens Mavericks.

Dani McFarlane has made her to return to the Saracens Mavericks squad ahead of the 2021 Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) season.

McFarlane, who plays as a goal defence or wing defence, has bounced back from recent injuries to return to the fold this year.

The defender was a member of the VNSL squad from 2011-13 after graduating to senior level from the NPL side. After taking time out due to an Achilles injury, she returned to the side ahead of the 2019 campaign.

Sadly for McFarlane, she ruptured her ACL in February of that year after just seven rounds of the season. After her ACL surgery, she vowed to ‘come back stronger’.

McFarlane has shown incredible personal strength, resilience, and discipline to return to the court for 2021. Looking in fantastic shape ahead of the new season, she is expected to return to court and use her experience to the drive the squad forward.

Looking forward to the new season, she said: “I’m extremely excited to be back with my Saracens Mavericks family and can’t wait for the 2021 season to get started.

“Our club is so special, and I have really missed training and playing together with the girls these last few months. We are ready for the challenges this new season will bring and looking forward to the journey.”

McFarlane’s re-signing follows the earlier announcements that captain Sasha Corbin, long-serving Steph Collard and Roses Future Beth Ecuyer-Dale, Chloe Essam and Georgia Lees would both be returning.

Earlier this week, news broke that ‘rookies’ Bella Baylis and Britney Clarke would be making the step up to the VNSL with Aliyah Zaranyika also recommitting after making her debut at the Season Opener in 2020.

Last week, Mavericks made it known that a handful of Vitality Roses in Kadeen Corbin, Jodie Gibson, Razia Quashie and Gabby Marshall would also be staying in Hertfordshire next term.
