Sigi Burger of London Pulse who joined from Surrey Storm in the last signing window.

Sigi Burger who has so impressed off the court in a series of interviews with Atlantic House Investments (AHI) that she has been offered an internship with the company.

AHI, a market-leading provider of defined return investments, has entered a three-year, six-figure partnership with London Pulse, London’s only Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) team.

This association sees AHI become a principal partner for London Pulse, sponsoring its VNSL and pathway Squads (U21 and U19). AHI will also be a high-profile home match day sponsor at London Pulse’s iconic venue, the Copper Box Arena located in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

AHI has already invested heavily in London Pulse – providing a six-figure investment deal with the club. CEO, Tony Stenning indicated he wanted to give work opportunities to London Pulse athletes, and Sigi was a good candidate. As well as being a world-class shooter Sigi has a good brain for business and has a BCom degree in Economics and International Trade, obtained in March 2018 and has a passion for business, finance and anything involving numbers.

When discussing the partnership arrangements, it became clear that Sigi would be perfect to be given an opportunity to develop her business skills further on a paid internship.

Sam Bird, CEO and Director of Netball said: “Sigi and I had a series of talks during lockdown about her personal development. It became clear to me that Sigi needed to be stimulated in a work setting as well as a netball setting. We want to be able to provide personal development for our players at London Pulse as well as netball development. When I was discussing the sponsorship partnership with Tony – I was able to recommend Sigi as a possible intern. Athletes often display great skills for business in that they work hard, are team players, take instructions and are often driven to give their best.

“Tony and his staff put Sigi through a rigorous series of tests for the role and she was successful. We are delighted for Sigi and it’s great to have an employer who understands the flexibility Sigi needs to work and train as an elite athlete.”

Sigi Burger said: “I am delighted to join AHI, this is a fantastic opportunity to develop my professional career whilst still training hard and playing elite netball for London Pulse VNSL.

I am really enjoying the challenge of learning new skills and building on the strong work ethic, leadership and team skills that I have achieved throughout my sporting journey.”

Tony Stenning, CEO of AHI Said: “Atlantic House Investments is always looking for innovative solutions and when the chance to partner with London Pulse came up we immediately saw an opportunity to both increase the awareness of investment through their fan base and community work, and perhaps more importantly begin redressing the lack of diversity and gender equality in the City. So, working with the coaching team at London Pulse, we started to offer internships andfinancial education to their squad. While the City might not seem to be an obvious career choice for a semi-professional netball player, elite sportswomen, particularly those competing in teams, have a wealth of transferable skills which are very relevant to many roles within the financial services sector.

“Sigi is our first intern and her enthusiasm, innovative mind-set and dynamism has already made a big impression. She has fitted seamlessly into the firm. We are delighted to be supporting Sigi’s career development (both off and on the court) as well as continue to offer other London Pulse athletes work experience, internships and mentoring to support them in achieving their long-term sporting and professional goals.”
