Netball Super League | Lynsey Gallagher makes Strathclyde Sirens commitment

Strathclyde Sirens have welcomed back Lynsey Gallagher to the squad for the 2022 Vitlaity Netball Superleague (VNSL) season.

A firm fan-favourite with the Sirens Tribe and Thistles Army, Gallagher is no stranger to Scottish netball and has a wealth of experience to her name.

The goal attack’s 2021 campaign unfortunately ended early last season due to a knee injury. Gallagher shone in the early weeks of Sirens’ record-breaking season and,, determined to bounce back this season, is ready to take on anyone who gets in her way.

Gallagher is now ready to return to the highest level. She is looking forward to re-joining her teammates and building on last year’s success.

“Obviously it was a blow to get an injury so early in the season, but I’ve just been itching to get back out there,” she said.

“The Sirens did amazing off the back of that last season and it makes you more eager to put in the hard work and the graft to get you back out there on court. We really feel that we are a force to be reckoned with and we are really excited to see where this journey is going to take us.”

Gallagher recently got a run out in Netball Scotland’s Super Cup and has great experience at international level, scoring 121 goals and assisting 55 at the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup.

Strathclyde Sirens Head Coach Lesley MacDonald is excited to see Lynsey return to the squad: “After an injury hit season, I am delighted to have Lynsey back for the new season.

“Lynsey has worked extremely hard with her rehab and now into preseason to ensure she is coming back stronger than we have seen her before.

“Lynsey brings so much knowledge and experience to the shooting unit that she will not only continue to develop her own craft during the season but also the other shooters within the team.”

Gallagher becomes Strathclyde Sirens’ tenth signing of the 2022 Signing Window after Towera Vinkhumbo, Emma Barrie, Taylor McKevitt, Gia Abernethy, Bethan Goodwin, Emily Nicholl, Niamh McCall, Claire Maxwell and Beth Dix. You can see the Sirens squad as it develops here.
