Share #SeeUsNow as the campaign for the 2024 NSL season has been born from the need to show more about the wealth of incredible people who take part in our sport. #SeeUsNow unapologetically tells stories about who the people that make our league are; not just as players with their incredible athletic performances, but beyond the court too. This is why we are launching the #SeeUsNow video series in collaboration with media agency Sportsbeat. A trailer for the #SeeUsNow video series has been released today (and can be watched here), hinting at a taste of things to come across the episodes which will be available to view in full on the NSL YouTube channel – you can subscribe here. Set on a comfy sofa with a cup of tea in hand, the #SeeUsNow video series offers athletes an opportunity to chat openly and honestly about a range of topics, tackle taboos, learn from each other, and give their thoughts on how we can make the sport a better place. From appearance to female health and injury, having it all and work/life balance, diversity and inclusion, motherhood, fertility and more; the series starts conversations on a range of topics that discuss some of the biggest issues facing women and sport. Hosted by sports broadcaster and pundit Betty Glover, seven of the Netball Super League’s most recognisable faces are set to feature on the sofa. The cast list includes: Niamh Cooper (Severn Stars) Mary Cholhok (Loughborough Lightning) Nat Panagarry (Loughborough Lightning) Nia Jones (Cardiff Dragons) Camilla Buchanan (Saracens Mavericks) Jo Trip (Severn Stars) Ellie Rattu (Saracens Mavericks) For Cardiff Dragons’ captain Nia Jones, getting involved in the #SeeUsNow series provided her with the opportunity to bring the fans closer to the experiences of the NSL’s athletes: I wanted to get involved because I firmly believe that so many things only seem alien or off-limits because they’re not seen enough in the media or spoken about publicly. There is so much that goes on behind closed doors in sport than fans don’t know about, and those things can genuinely make or break an athlete or team’s performance on the weekend. It was also great to catch up with opposition players too – we all have more in common than we think! Although the series will see a range of athletes exploring several wide-ranging topics, this series does not claim nor intend to be a catch-all for the experiences of the whole of the NSL’s athletes. Instead, this offers a jumping-off point to explore and open up the conversations and topics that we know need to be taking place more often, both in sport and wider society. We welcome open discussions around all these topics and hope that this series can act as a catalyst to break down taboos and barriers in sport, as well as lifting up and celebrating some of our athletes and their experiences.
