Netball Super League | Where to Watch: Round 12

Round 12 of the Netball Super League (NSL) is coming up, so find out all the vital information about where to watch and follow the action over the next few days here.

Round 11 brought plenty of excitement, including another thrilling draw and the NSL’s return to the First Direct Arena in Leeds. Now it’s time to look ahead to what is to come in round 12.

On Saturday 4 May fans will be treated to a first versus second clash as the table stands, with Manchester Thunder travelling to face Loughborough Lightning live on Sky Sports.

Then on Sunday 5 May, fans will be able to watch Severn Stars take on the LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons live on BBC Sport and BBC iPlayer.

Loughborough Lightning v Manchester Thunder – First Centre Pass at 18:00 Saturday 4 May

This match sees current league leaders Manchester Thunder take on reigning champions Loughborough Lightning. The two teams are currently equal on points, with Thunder just edging ahead in the league table thanks to their goal difference, but it was Lightning who took the spoils the first time these two teams met in NSL 2024. Playing at home this weekend, Head Coach Vic Burgess will be demanding a similarly impressive performance from her players in a bid make a real statement by securing a second victory this season over Thunder. Karen Greig on the other hand will be looking for a response to the round six loss her side faced against Lightning. Thunder have hardly put a foot wrong since this loss, delivering clinical performances week after week, so can they continue their fine form to remain at the top of the table this weekend?

Loughborough Lightning Player to Watch: Beth Cobden has been a constant nuisance to wing attacks across the league this season, tallying up an impressive number of intercepts, deflections and circle edge pick-ups. She will have the difficult task of shutting down Thunder’s star attacking player, Nat Metcalf, on Saturday. If she can do this, then she might just help her team secure the win in front of their home fans.

Manchester Thunder Player to Watch: Josie Huckle is certainly thriving at Manchester Thunder this season and she currently sits second in the league for intercepts. Facing the challenging task of matching up against Mary Cholhok this weekend, fans can expect to see Huckle’s trademark tenacity and resilience at play as she fights for every ball that she can take off the Lightning attacking end.

Severn Stars v LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons – First Centre Pass at 16:00 Sunday 5 May

Severn Stars have had a challenging run of games over the past three weeks. They have faced all three of the teams above them in the NSL table and failed to pick up a win in any of these encounters. Back in front of their home crowd tonight, the side will be ready to right some wrongs from the past few weeks and put out a performance to be proud of. Similarly, the LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons enter this game with a point to prove after recording their second draw of NSL 2024 last week. In a Celtic clash to remember against Strathclyde Sirens, Dragons had an impressive start but were not able to prevent Sirens’ comeback in the second quarter. The dramatic match ended in a draw, leaving Dragons hungry for more and setting this game up to be an unmissable match for fans!

Severn Stars Player to Watch: Lefébre Rademan’s speed of movement and willingness to go to post make her a lethal weapon in Severn Stars’ shooting circle. If she is able to get into her flow early on in the game, she has the potential to make a real impact on the result at the end of the 60 minutes.

LexisNexis Cardiff Dragons Player to Watch: Nia Jones’ leadership will be crucial in what is sure to be a feisty and hard-fought battle on Sunday. The Dragons’ captain will lead her team from the front as they continue to fight for a place in the top four of the league.

On top of our broadcast games, there are three more matches taking place this round that you can buy tickets to watch live, or follow the action on X.

Fans saw Strathclyde Sirens’ persistence pay off as they picked up their first point of NSL 2024 last week and they travel to Hertfordshire to take on Saracens Mavericks at 3pm on Saturday. After coming so close to their first win last week, will they be able to get over the line against Mavericks this weekend, a side who drew with Dragons back in round one, just like Sirens did last week?

Surrey Storm have been climbing their way up the NSL table and now sit in fifth place, just outside of those all-important top four positions. They travel to the Team Bath Arena at 4pm on Saturday, where Asha Francis’ side will be looking for their second win of the season. Fans at the arena can look forward to brilliant match-ups all over the court, and young English defender Jayda Pechova matching up against prolific shooter Proscovia Peace is sure to be one to watch.

Finally, London Pulse host Leeds Rhinos at 7pm on Saturday at the Crystal Palace Arena. Rhinos posed a real challenge to reigning champions Loughborough Lightning in round 11, so fans can expect them to do the same against London Pulse, who enter the game following a big win over Severn Stars last week.
