Share It was another busy week of Celtic Dragons signings as the franchise revealed three new players – bringing a mix of familiar faces, youth and experience. Celtic Dragons have welcomed back Eleanor Roberts for the 2019 season. Eleanor enjoyed a breakthrough season last year for Wales, making her senior international debut in December 2017 and scoring her first goals for country in Wales’ two-test series against Samoa. She then also featured heavily in Wales’ Gold Coast Commonwealth Games campaign in Australia. Eleanor originates from Pontypool and counts Caitlin Bassett and Maria Tutaia as her netball heroes. She will join Chelsea Lewis, Kalifa McColin and Bethan Dyke in the Dragons’ new-look attacking end. A new face for Celtic Dragons but an established Vitality Netball Superleague presence is Adi Bolakoro. Known as ‘Dee’, the Fijian international teams up with former Storm coach Tania Hoffman and will play an important role in the coming season. Welsh fans will also recognise Dee from Fiji’s appearance at the 2017 Netball Europe Open Championship in Cardiff. Bolakoro serves in the British Army and has starred in the Army’s own netball team. After enjoying a strong season with Storm who finished fifth in last year’s table she will bring a wealth of experience and energy to the Dragons defence. Finally Celtic Dragons revealed a recent European champion: Abby Tyrrell. Abby, who joins the Dragons from Manchester Thunder. She plays for England Under 21s and recently won the Netball Europe Open Championships in Belfast in an impressive straight three victories. As one of the UK’s most exciting rising young netball stars, Abby will bring bundles of energy into the franchise for the huge season ahead! Tickets are now on sale for Super 10 – get your squad together and head to the season opener on Saturday 5th January 2019 at Arena Birmingham!
