Netball Super League | Three more Dragons players called up to World Cup squads

Celtic Dragons have had three more of their 2019 Vitality Netball Superleague squad called up to represent their respective countries at the Vitality Netball World Cup.

Dee Bolakoro and Ellie Nawele have been called up to the Fiji squad for this summer’s tournament. Both have had excellent seasons and helped Dragons reach their highest Vitality Netball Superleague finish in recent years.

Bolakoro, who plays at goal defence or wing defence, and wing attack Nawele will take to the court on Friday 13th July for their first game of the competition when they face Jamaica.

In the group stages, they will also face South Africa when they will come up against three fellow Vitality Netball Superleague players in Bongiwe Msomi, Shadine Van Der Merwe and Maryka Holtzhausen of Wasps Netball, Surrey Storm and Severn Stars respectively.

The fourth team in that group, Trinidad and Tobago, have called up Dragons star Kalifa McCollin. The vibrant and athletic goal attack has been a standout figure in her side’s season.

McCollin’s fine season was rewarded with a place in the league’s All-Star VII, which was voted for by her fellow Vitality Netball Superleague players.

Out of players who featured in all 18 regular season rounds, McCollin finished with the league’s fifth-highest successful shooting percentage with 419 goals, a figure which guaranteed her a top 10 finish for goals scored in the league.

McCollin will meet her Dragons teammates Bolakoro and Nawelee at the World Cup on Sunday 14th July.
