Having featured for the franchise in their run to the semi-final of the British Fast5 All-Stars Championship, Celtic Dragons can confirm the signings of both Rebekah Robinson and Latanya Wilson from Jamaica.

Robinson was instrumental in Dragons’ shooting game at the Fast5 tournament and the goal-attack will be looking to make a big impression in the UK following her Netball World Cup debut back in the summer. Wilson, whose defensive work at Fast5 helped ensure that opposition teams failed to make the most of their golden buzzer powerplays, is an emerging talent from the Caribbean nation and the young defender will certainly be one to watch once the Superleague gets underway in February.

Joining Dragons’ two Sunshine Girls is another young player ready to take the league by storm, Shona O’Dwyer. O’Dwyer captained Wales Under 21 at the recent Netball Europe U21 Championship where she led the team to victories over Scotland and Northern Ireland, earning Wales a silver medal in doing so. She joins Dragons from Severn Stars where she enjoyed a great season earlier in 2019.

Commenting on these latest signings, head coach Tania Hoffman said: “It was important to find a suitable replacement for Kalifa once we released her for an ANZ contract. We have found in Rebekah a ready replacement with maturity and calmness in the circle. Rebekah’s experience with the Sunshine Girls will be invaluable during the season and we are delighted to have her sign with us.

“Latanya is an exciting young prospect from Jamaica’s Youth World Cup squad. Her natural athletic ability and reading of the game will complement the style of defence we have been striving to play at Dragons. Latanya will delight our fans with her energy on court”

“We are thrilled to have Shona sign for Dragons after an impressive tournament with the Welsh U21’s.  We can’t wait to see what she can do in the green dress this season. Shona is a great addition to our midcourt with the retirements of Kyra and Suzy.”

Celtic Dragons 2020 signings: Chelsea Lewis, Leila Thomas, Dee Bolakoro, Abby Tyrrell, Paige Kindred, Sophie Morgan, Amy Clinton, Rebekah Robinson, Latanya Wilson and Shona O’Dwyer.
