Share London Pulse’s return to the Copper Box Arena was a successful one as, after being level at half-time, they overcame Wasps 52-35 on Monday evening. Wasps started the first quarter with a bang, while London Pulse were a little slow out of the blocks which the visitors took advantage of. Wasps were ahead 4-0 after just a few minutes of play. Pulse were still attempting to score as Liv Tchine and Sacha McDonald tried tirelessly to score the first goal despite the roughness of the Wasps defence. McDonald, pumped up by her first shot, went on the defence and flips over the ball, but Pulse are unable to capitalise. Ellie Rattu, however, recognised the momentum shift after Wasps scored a couple of goals and got a vital turnover on their centre pass before expertly feeding the ball to Tchine. Pulse continud to work circles around the Wasps defence and scored another goal, bringing the score down by three goals. Toward the end of the first quarter, the Pulse defence began to put in a lot of work. Linday Keable secured a huge turnover for the Pulse, bringing the first quarter score to 13-13. In the second quarter, both sides are revved up and ready to play. It was a London Pulse centre pass that Pulse scored on, giving them the lead. During this time, the ball was passed back and forth, but the Pulse attack demonstrated that interceptions are not limited to defenders. Tchine tipped the ball to Ashleigh Dekker, who assisted her teammate, allowing them to score. The tension of the quarter rose as it went goal-for-goal with both teams putting their bodies on the line. However, London Pulse continue to push forward and Zara Evertitt made a huge interception, but the Wasps defence prevented the home side from getting it to goal. Head Coach Sam Bird made the decision to start a clinical change and Alicia Scholes comes on for Dekker, again the final score for this quarter is 22-22. Going into the championship quarter, McDonald got another clean intercept from a sideline pass giving pulse a three-goal lead. Pulse continued their awesome play with Funmi Fadoju getting a massive turnover before, after four passes, Tchine netted. This attacking combo of Tayla Honey, Scholes, McDonald and Tchine were having a field day going into the final quarter when Pulse moved it up another gear. Wasps attempted to come back into the game but Pulse countered every move with Keable - on her return to the side - worked well with Fadoju by her side. Jasmin Odeogberin, Kira Rothwell and Berri Neil joined the game in the latter stages with Neil making her debut for the London outfit. Player of the Match: Liv Tchine (London Pulse).
