Team Guide: London Pulse

With the motto 'Born in London and bleeding London' behind them, London Pulse have their eyes set on a best-ever finish in 2025.

The team made their Netball Super League debut back in 2019 and have since cemented their place as regular challengers for the play-offs.

Their best finish to date came in 2023 as Sam Bird's side finished top of the table before losing out on the title to Loughborough Lightning in the Grand Final, and they have every intention on going one step further in 2025.

Head Coach

When you think of London Pulse, you think of Sam Bird.

As a player, Bird represented England and is now a Vitality Roses selector. Away from the international set up, she has been a coach in the Netball Super League for the past 20 years.

Since taking on the dual role of CEO and Director of Netball at London Pulse in 2020, Bird led her side to an historic maiden Grand Final in 2023.

She will be looking to make more history with Pulse's maiden Netball Super League title in 2025.

Captain

This is the fourth consecutive year that Zara Everitt has been voted captain by her London Pulse teammates.

It speaks to the defender's unending energy and strong leadership that the club has risen to new heights under Everitt's command, with three consecutive play-off finishes under their belts.

Everitt has become a key player for Sam Bird since signing for Pulse ahead of the 2020 season, with over 80 appearances in pink, and is now one of the first names on the team sheet at wing defence.

Star Player

Funmi Fadoju is undoubtedly a star of the netball court.

Still only 22-years-old, the defender has climbed the ranks at London Pulse to become a key cog for the capital franchise thanks to her huge vertical leap and knack for a crucial intercept.

Helping guide Pulse to their first Super League Grand Final in 2023, Fadoju topped the standings for intercepts in 2024, with 50, 20 more than the next player.

Named Netball Super League Young Player of the Season in 2021 and 2022 and now an England favourite and Pulse star, nothing is stopping Fadoju on her journey to the top.

One To Watch

Sophie Kelly is an exciting young shooter who could be set to take full advantage of the Super Shot.

Kelly has been a regular face in the Netball Super League since making her debut aged 16 and has garnered a reputation for her ability to shoot from anywhere in the circle.

She arrives at Pulse with a number of seasons at Team Bath under her belt, and could provide excellent foil to Olivia Tchine and Nichole Breedt in the circle.

New Name

Hailing from Moana, South Australia, Tyler Orr is ready for her Netball Super League debut.

One of a number of Australians that have moved to the other side of the world for 2025, Orr has switched from 2024 Suncorp Super Netball Championships Adelaide Thunderbirds to Sam Bird's Pulse with the hopes of increasing her court time.

The midcourter was part of three South Australian title winning teams in the national 17U and 19U championships and will be crucial in helping linkup Pulse's centre court and shooting circle.

Venues

London by name and London by nature, Pulse are back in their usual home for the upcoming Netball Super League season.

The Copper Box Arena in Stratford will play host for all of their home matches.

First home game

Pulse will start their season in the comfort of their own home, taking on newbies Nottingham Forest in Round 1. All the action will be live on BBC Sport on Sunday 16 March.
