Player Bio
Aliyah Zaranyika is out to lay down the law at wing defence for Birmingham Panthers.
Zaranyika is a new face in the Midlands for 2025, joining up with Jo Trip’s Panthers after five seasons at London Mavericks.
Zaranyika came through the Mavericks pathway as a youth player, joining the Hertfordshire side aged 14 and progressed right the way through to senior level.
It was at Mavericks that the law student made her Netball Super League debut in 2020, at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham which she will now call home with Panthers.
From there, Zaranyika continued to develop her netball alongside her studies at Royal Holloway University, where she graduated with a degree in law and politics and is completing a Masters in Law at the University of Hertfordshire.
Zaranyika represented England Under-21s at Netball Europe in 2021, helping her country defend their title as well as claiming the Player of the Tournament award.
Her consistent showings in the Netball Super League also earned Zaranyika a place on the Vitality Roses Future programme in 2022, and the wing defence continues to be a key part of that squad.
Zaranyika has spoken about being a neurodivergent athlete, after being diagnosed with AuDHD, and is passionate about increasing opportunities in sport.
She can solve a Rubik’s cube in under two minutes.
