Player Bio
Chelsea Blackman is a versatile defender ready to bring her Australian experience to London Mavericks.
Blackman arrived in the UK from Adelaide Thunderbirds, where she was part of the programme since 2018 as a training partner, making her debut in 2019.
She made two appearances in Suncorp Super Netball in 2020 and also reached six consecutive Grand Finals with Contax Netball Club in the South Australia Premier League.
"Bringing in an Australian player like Chelsea, who has that relentless mentality, adds something different,” said Mavericks director of netball Tamsin Greenway.
"Chelsea knows how to grind down opponents in one-on-one situations and offers a unique, rangy presence."
The goal defence, who can also operate at wing defence, started playing netball aged seven at North East Zodiacs in Adelaide.
She was part of the Australian Netball World Youth Cup Squad in 2020-21.
Blackman studied Exercise and Sport Science at the University of South Australia and went on to complete a Masters by Research in Sport Science.
