Player Bio
Emma Thacker is a rising star in the Netball Super League and is set to play a key role for London Mavericks.
Standing at 6’2”, the versatile attacker can play both goal shooter and goal attack and is looking to build on the connections built last season after making the switch from Loughborough Lightning.
She said: “I think this season is all about consistency for me, I want to consistently deliver strong performances, and I’m excited to work with the new players around me in the shooting circle.
“Developing those connections on the court is key, and I can’t wait to see how we all come together as a team.”
Thacker will hope to make full use of the new Soft & Gentle Super Shot, with the London-born attacker happy to shoot from anywhere in the circle.
London Mavericks Director of Netball Tamsin Greenway said: “Emma can literally shoot from anywhere on the court. Her shot is just so smooth, and she’s fearless about taking it from any position.”
The 21-year-old made her NSL debut for Loughborough Lightning in 2022 and was part of the 2023 title-winning team before joining Mavericks ahead of the 2024 season.
Thacker first played netball in Year 2 at school and went on to play in the National Performance League for Surrey Storm’s Under-15 and Under-17 sides.
She was included as part of the England Roses Academy in 2018, and was a member of the Under-17 England squad that played at Netball Europe and toured Australia and New Zealand.
Thacker was also included in the long squad for the 2021 Netball World Youth Cup aged just 15, which was eventually cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
She represented England for two consecutive years at the FAST5 World Series competition, winning bronze in 2023.
Thacker was then included as part of the Vitality Roses programme and made her senior international debut against Malawi in January 2025.
Away from netball, Thacker is studying for a degree in Geography and Sports Science alongside playing netball for Loughborough University.
