Player Bio

Halimat Adio is one of the leading defenders in the Netball Super League.

Comfortable at goal keeper and goal defence, Adio has formed a mean partnership with London Pulse teammate and best friend Funmi Fadoju in the circle.

The Londoner has over a half century of Super League appearances, having been a key part of the Pulse project for the past five seasons and Adio stepped up to the role of vice-captain for the 2025 season.

Adio began her Super League career at Wasps and arrived at Pulse via Severn Stars ahead of the curtailed 2020 season.

Since then, she has been a lynchpin of the Pulse defence and has risen to new heights after recovering from a knee injury that caused her to miss the entirety of the 2022 season.

Adio also featured for England across all age groups as a youth player, and was part of the victorious Netball Europe U21 team in 2018.

She was included in the Future Roses programme in 2019 but was forced to wait until 2024 for her senior Vitality Roses debut, when she faced New Zealand’s Silver Ferns.

She has since become a regular fixture of Jess Thirlby’s squads, and was part of the squad that won the Vitality Netball Nations Cup in January 2025.

When she’s not playing netball she can be found coaching at Hyde Park Netball Club.

She has a degree in biomedical sciences from Coventry University, where she was awarded a Full Blue for her sporting achievements.
