Player Bio
The name Razia Quashie is synonymous with London Mavericks.
The defender made her Netball Super League debut for the side in 2017 and has become a fan favourite ever since.
Born on the south Caribbean islands of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Quashie credits her mother for introducing her to netball with trips to the local court to watch her matches.
“I’ve always been a sporty child and always wanted to be outdoors, getting active," she told England Netball.
“I got into netball after seeing my mum playing at the local court. She would take me to all of her netball games, put me in a bib and allow me to shoot. If I wasn’t exposed to it at such a young age, I wouldn’t be playing it right now.”
In a shock to many, the 27-year-old actually grew up playing shooter until she started sixth form and switched to the other side of the court.
Since 2017, she has been in the Vitality Roses programme and made her senior international debut against Jamaica in 2018. She now has 28 England caps to her name.
Her time at Mavericks has seen Quashie thrive on the court, named Players’ Player of the Season in 2019 and known for her incredible flying intercepts.
